BY AIR

BY RAIL
The nearest train station are Pathankot and Chakki Bank which are approx. 80 kms from Dalhousie and have direct Broad Gadge Trains from Delhi. From Pathankot there are buses and taxis that can transport you to Dalhousie.
BY ROAD
A national highway links Dalhousie with Pathankot with regular state roadways and private buses plying on the route. Overnight Normal/Semi Deluxe Bus services are available between Delhi and Dalhousie.

Chandigarh to Dalhousie: 320 km
From Chandigarh it is 45 kms to Rupnagar and then on via Hoshiarpur and Kathua to Dalhousie.
Getting Around Dalhousie
Ponies and dandies (local palanquins) are used for short distance travel. Car and taxis are also available and can be hired from private agencies. For those who don’t mind the excercise, walking around is a great way of taking in the scenery.
Best Time to Visit Dalhousie
Dalhousie is place for all seasons. The best time to visitwould really depend on why you are visiting. If you are getting away from the heat of the plains then summer between March and June is a very good time as is September to November. The weather is cool and very pleasant at these times. Winters are a slack season in some ways and hotels offer good prices at this time. Dalhousie is very pretty at this time of the year and it does snow too in January, so if you want peace and quiet, scenic beauty and great hotel prices head here in winter. It is beautiful!
